Eating healthy ~ not always easy for most of us…  As much as we know we should, it just seems “easier” to eat bad!  When in reality ~ it is just as easy to eat healthy.  Oh, the excuses we come up with!!  Like “Eating healthy is too expensive”  Really??  When it comes down to it, eating healthy is no more expensive than buying all that junk food.  And even if it does cost a few cents more, is your health not worth that?

I came across this article that gives us some healthy eating resolutions for the New Year.  Nothing difficult ~ nothing expensive.  And, some helpful recipes included also!

Tips include things such as eating more Omega 3s.  Research suggests that foods rich in Omega 3 fatty acids may help keep your blood pressure down and may help improve your mood ~ which is great in the winter months with the shorter, darker days.

Eat more veggies ~ we have all heard this from childhood!!  So, we know the benefits of eating our veggies.  You say they don’t taste good??  See the article for some helpful recipes and search online for more.

Getting more fiber can not only help prevent cardiovascular disease, but type 2 diabetes and a number of cancers and help to slim you down.  Now, why wouldn’t we want to do all that!

Eat less meat.  Now, this may be a tough one for my household!   When you replace meat with soy, you will naturally eat less fat.  Now, I have never tried tofu, but I am willing to try out a few of their recipes if it will help my heart stay healthier!

Reduce your sugar intake.  Americans consume at least 22 teaspoons of added sugar a day ~ 355 calories ~ either through the foods we eat and the drinks we consume.  For a healthier alternative to your sodas and sugary beverages, visit here.
