P90X2-- Core X2



Last night was Core X2 and I must say it was very challening for me as I kept up with it pretty good for my first time doing this one but when it got toward the end he brought it harder just like in Insanity... The things that were the heardest for me was the Balance on ball and do a push up on one leg. This was hard for me but you know I will get it and have more confidence in the stregnth and balance it takes to do these moves. I noticed he has a different philosphy also in these workouts. Time, Patience, Practice. This is the things he tells you that you need to do to get good results in these workouts. So I will have them and Bring It....

Community Sports Provide Satisfying Exercise Options for Cancer Patients

Cancer patients face many challenges as they go through the process of fighting their disease; there are numerous types of cancers and many of the types have varying levels of severity.  People of all ages can be prone to the disease and can affect millions of men and women on a daily basis.  Exercise can help to reduce stress, increase physical strength, and it can provide a valuable way to increase energy in the person who has cancer.

The treatments of cancer such as, mesothelioma, and surgery procedures can result in a cancer patient feeling physically worn out.  In addition to the disease and the treatments zapping energy, it can also wreak havoc on muscles and the circulatory system.  If a cancer patient is able to find the energy and motivation to begin mild exercise routines on a regular basis, these exercise activities can be a tremendous benefit physically and mentally to the individual.

It is important for the exercises to be entertaining so that the person is able to experience stress-relief and personal satisfaction during exercise times.  Community sports programs may be a source of exercise to consider if someone has cancer, or if a friend or family member has cancer.  Many community sports programs have levels of sports that range from amateur to beginner and are founded on the basis of people having fun and getting physical exercise while socializing.

Basketball, volleyball, racquetball, golfing, swimming, tennis, relays, walk-a-thons, kayaking, and softball are common sports offered in many different communities across the country.  Each community will typically vary on the sports that have local teams.  Consulting with the Chamber of Commerce or a Parks and Recreation Board of a local community can provide information on what sports are available, what the fees are, and how to sign up to participate.

In an NCI Cancer bulletin, an article states that inactivity is one of the most important things that cancer patients should avoid.  The article discusses the importance of cancer patients getting adequate amounts of cardio workouts while they are going through treatments.  This will help the patient in numerous ways emotionally and will also produce benefits that focus on the circulatory system and the muscular system.  

Community sports are an ideal way for cancer patients to begin a simple exercise regimen. Practicing for sporting events, physical training, stretching, and mild endurance activities can promote overall health and well-being in a cancer patient and provide an edge that is needed to help fight the disease. 

Any exercise a cancer patient gets will be a benefit to the person.  Participating in fun sporting events can provide positive mental stimulation and physical exertion.  Friends and close family members can sign up on the same sports teams and this can provide a means to reinforce relationship bonds while also getting exercise at the same time.
Consult your doctor and find out a workout regimen that is best suited for you and the needs of your disease. Although exercise may not be a cure to cancer, it can be an essential tool in getting you back on the right track and allowing you to feel more like yourself. Don’t become sedentary to your disease, fight back and get active!

Stepping out




Joined the local gym last night and got it on with P90X Chest and Back. It was so cool some of the people in the gym was wondering what I was doing and talked to me and was watching me get it on with Tony and the gang. I really had a good workout and got a real good burn. This is still one of my favorite workouts. I like the combination of moves in this one.. Today is Insanity PLyo Cardio Circuit.. Cannot wait to see the face's on these guys today during this workout..

People are such Imitators


I was up early today and I was watching Informercials and what did I see??? Some copy cats trying to sell a workout that will get you RIPPED in 90 Days..

As I have done and completed P90X, Insanity and Turbofire many times. I was watching this show and noticed that everyone of the routines was in a Beachbody Program. Mostly it was Insanity... They also told a story about Max Interval training t...o get results. They also said that you do not need weights just a floor and your own body weight. I mean it was just like I was watching Shaun T but it was some MMA Fighting workout. Makes me wonder if they really get Insanity and get into shape then decided to make their own workout and trying to sell it?

The HEISMAN

Stand with feet hip-width apart, elbows bent, arms close to body. Hop on left foot, bringing right knee toward chest as you drive left arm forward, right arm back like a sprinter (as shown). Quickly hop onto right foot, reversing motion. Continue alternating for 1 minute.

Stance Jacks

Stand with feet together, arms raised to chest level, elbows out, fingertips touching. Jump into a wide squat, pushing hips back as you reach left hand toward right foot, right arm extended behind you (as shown). Jump back to start. Repeat quickly on opposite side. Continue alternating for 1 minute.

Hit the Floor

Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, arms down. Crouch, placing right hand on floor near left instep, left arm extended behind you (as shown). Jump, reaching arms overhead and landing in crouch position with left hand near right instep, right arm extended back. Continue alternating for 1 minute.

POWER JUMP

Stand with feet hip-width apart, knees soft, arms down. Squat, extending arms behind you, then jump, bringing knees toward chest as you touch hands to thighs (as shown). Land with soft knees. Repeat quickly for 1 minute.

SWITCH KICK

Works: triceps, back, abs, butt, thighs
Sit with knees bent, feet flat, palms behind you, fingertips pointed toward heels. Keeping hands and feet planted, raise hips off floor and alternate kicking right leg (as shown), then left leg, as high as you can for 1 minute.

Double Diamond

Works: shoulders, abs, butt, thighs
Stand with feet wider than hip-width apart. Squat until thighs are almost parallel to floor, then jump, touching hands together above head with elbows bent as you tap heels together, forming diamonds with arms and legs (as shown). Land with soft knees. Repeat quickly for 1 minute.

Changing Things Up



  I changed the workout for the most part. Let me say I fund in the new gym that is in the camp they had a pull up bar. So this was awesome for me. I went to the gym last night and I started the workout and instead of doing the Push Ups as was required, I did the bench press instead and I must say it was good I got a good workout in doing it that way. I also learned I was stronger than I thought I was going to be which is from all the workouts I have been doing over time. So I also did the pull ups from the routine as required during the workout. It was such a good feeling after I had completed this workout I was tired but I was also refreshed if that makes sense. So I am thinking it is basically the same as Les Mills Pump workout. They use weights and I did also, I wanted to change it up a bit and see if I can get more muscle mass in my chest. After my workout I did some Ab routines that I felt were effective on my Abs. They tested me and as I went through the routine I got stronger and stronger doing them. I could feel the burn and I am hoping it is going to work and get thse babies to come out and play..
