Dine Out Without Diving Off Your Diet



 When you start to eat healthily, dining out, which was once a bliss-filled, belt-notch-loosening pleasure, becomes a culinary terror.

 Servings are Matterhorn-esque in size. Supertankers of soda abound. Fries come with your order whether you want them or not. Nary a veggie can be seen for miles.

  We're here to help.

 But please remember that even with our tips, restaurant dining is almost always going to be less healthy than what you can make at home. That said, here are a few pointers:

1. Make smart choices
Almost every menu contains chicken or fish cooked in a healthy way. Look for words like "grilled," "broiled," or "steamed," and avoid "sautéed" and "fried."

2. Skip the appetizer
By definition, an appetizer is intended to get your appetite going. But when some appetizers contain more than 1,000 calories, that's not an appetizer—that's a full meal and more! If you do want an appetizer, ask your table if they'd be willing to split one of the healthier options like a salad, bruschetta, ceviche, or anything that's light on sauce and heavy on fruits, veggies, or lean protein.

3. Eat a salad
Greens are also a great option, but not all salads are created equal. Stick with salads that don't contain mayo (in other words, avoid the tuna and chicken salad), and ask for the dressing on the side. This way you can add your tablespoon or two, instead of having your salad drenched in it.

4. Side dishes in your mouth mean sidecars on your thighs
At many restaurants, the "side" is a baked potato, fries, or coleslaw. What does that equal? Unnecessary calories. If you'd like a side, request the salad (dressing on the side), fruit, or steamed veggies, even if you don't see them as an option.

5. No bread
Don't eat the bread. Does it taste good? Sure! But instead of eating something because it's in front of you, swap those empty calories for something you'd actually enjoy.

6. Eat half
Over time, American portion sizes have enlarged to gargantuan sizes. Restaurants often provide you not with one serving of pasta, but with as many as 4 or more. But if you have a hard time not cleaning your plate—after all, the food does taste good—request that the waiter split your order in half before they bring it to the table. That way you can enjoy your dinner as lunch later in the week.

7. No soda
If bread is bad, soda might be worse. That's because it's easy to consume massive amounts of calories fast. And don't even think about going the "diet" route. Those artificial sweeteners aren't healthy, and they can lead you to crave more sugary substances. Talk about a lose-lose! If you want something other than water, ask for unsweetened iced tea. It's calorie free, so you can drink as much as you want!

8. Dessert
Really? Really? Granted, some restaurants use restraint, and focus more on unique flavors than on quantity, but if you're out with friends at the type of place where the dessert has more calories than your meal, and they insist upon ordering it, suggest the table split it. Then take a single bite and put your spoon down. It's not about denying yourself, but about making smart choices. If you're still craving something sweet when you get home, enjoy some yogurt and berries or a piece of fruit

Yoga for Men

 I have never done Yoga before and I have recently this year started doing Yoga and I must say for a man it can be a little challenging at the beginning. I had done the best I can to get these moves down which is Awesome all in itself. I have learned that if you stick with it and do these moves the best you can then it will improve your circulation and flexibility. For men this is a good thing when we reach a certain age. I am 41 fixing to be 42 and I really enjoy Yoga now it has improved me Physically and Mentally.

 Most men think it is for girls, but in retro spec it is for everyone. If you have ever bent down to get something and had a hard time getting back up or needed help getting up say a wall or chair. Then you should try Yoga it will work your muscles and balance. This is the best thing to make those muscles we do not use everyday stay in shape and stay flexible. Men's muscles are different than women's muscles in build and flexibility. You can see a women bend down and pick something up and never miss a beat. Women can also reach and stretch the way men can not, well some men. But this is all due to the make up of the muscles. 

 So Men need to stretch and get flexible so they can do the same things as women. This is why Yoga and stretching is so important to men. We are just bull headed and say "Yoga I need no stinking Yoga that is for women". I am here to tell you it is not just for women it is for YOU.. You can do it and you do not need to go to a gym and do it in front of everyone. You can simply do it in the privacy of your home and you will see how stronger and flexible you can get everyday. All it take is 1 time a week to just put in the DVD and push play. It is part of the P90X program and let me tell you it is just great to feel the way you should be moving more freely and using good form and not having to worry if your back is going to go out when you lift something.

 So if us men can stop thinking like the cavemen and open our mind to experience something new then just give it a try you spouse will be so surprised that you want to try and share something with them..

Need HELP with Nutrition

 I did not workout last night as it was a day off for me. I much needed this time off. Sometimes it is good to take a day or two off from the Extreme Workouts from Beachbody. I am also thinking I need to work on my nutrition as it is not getting me where I want to be right now. I know this is the problem with the way I feel as I work hard during the workouts and I work hard to get as many Rep's in as I can and still feel the burn. But for some reason I am not changing my body any place. I am not building I am not losing I am just stuck. This is not where I want to be Stuck. I want to be doing Awesome and seeing the difference in the physical appearance but for some reason I am not. So I am going to figure this out.

 If you can suggest some help or something that I have not thought of then just speak up I am open to anything at this point. There is nothing worse than feeling like you are in this alone.

   TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,
   HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
   IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF
   PLASTER AND STONE.

   I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
   WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
   AND TO SEE JUST WHO
   IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.

   I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
   A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
   NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
   NOT EVEN A TREE.

   NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,
   JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
   ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES
   OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

   WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,
   AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,

This is one of the best speeches or lines to ever come out of a movie. If you have been thinking about working out or just plain getting better. Never let anyone tell you that you cannot do it.. I know you can do it..

Fire 45

 Last nights workout was Fire 45 and it was good I am really having a crazy time with this workout the routines are crazy in this one I am just not getting the routines down right now. But I am sure I will be getting it soon.. I am going to keep going and going and going and getting this done. But I will get it soon. I do not understand why I cannot get this one down as well.. Maybe some tips would be helpful???? I think this one is more difficult than Fire 55. The Fire Drills are just Insane with the Jumps.. What is she thinking...

Beachbody Coach


Yesterday I was asking about being a beachbody coach the reason WHY I do it..

I really like being a Coach as let me explain...

I have a couple co workers that I deal with everyday.. One is a Beachbody Coach now and one is not. So we talk about our workouts and Beachbody everyday in the office. So the other co worker has Insanity from a while back but he was not doing it. So in the long run he... has gotten tired of listening to us talk about Insanity and Beachbody so he started Insanity this week. He was real sore and I told him to just Push Play and it gets better..So for the last week he has been getting it done every night and after just 3 days he is not sore anymore.. So this is WHY I am a Coach to give people the support they need to prove to themselves they can do it and it does get better everyday. And a Plus is he is talking to his wife and they are going to start doing it together when he gets home for the holiday's. What?? Yes it does bring families together also, that is Awesome to me.. Family and Friends is there any better support groups?? Oh yeah Mine.. HA..

Fire 30

The workout tonight was Fire 30... Awesome time it is quick and to the point I really like it. It was the very first workout I really got a hold of and understood all the moves. I get such a good feeling even from the Fire Drills in the workout. If you push yourself everytime you do this workout then it will pay off in the long run..
Yesterday I did Core 20 even though it was a day off as I thought I was not getting enough work on my Abs but let me tell you this TurboFire works them everyday as I felt every move during the Core 20 workout.. So keep up the good work and get it done..

Core 20



 Last night I worked out to Core 20 it was a scheduled day off for me and I was getting off work and I went to my room and then I looked at my poster on the wall of the schedule for TurboFire, After looking at this and my Shakeology I said GET IT DONE.. So I stuck in Core 20 and got it done in style. It took only 20 minutes and I got a great Core workout. I could feel the muscles in my Core working and getting stronger. It is such a great felling and it is suc a good feeling just from the workouts. I would suggest everyone should try this workout or any Beachbody workout. These are proven to work and make you feel like you are 20 again and this is what you are after is to feel 20 again.

 Tonight was Fire 30 and Sculpt 30... Man these two are awesome together... First off Fire 30 was great I was going so hard and making it count.. I looked up and I was all sweaty and then it was over.. Man I was so surprised that it was over. I am getting so good at these workouts and getting it done..

 Then when it was time to do Sculpt 30 I got in my head I would do it tomorrow, so ...I stood there and then before I knew it I was inserting the DVD and pushing play.. :) I got this one done like it was the first workout I have done tonight. I like this Sculpt one also. It works all your muscles and you can feel it that is the reason I get it done in style. By the time it was over I was like what it is over. Man these workouts go by so fast because I have so much fun during the workouts. Great music great moves and the best spot in class..

 Bring the FIYAH!!!!

Shakeology-- Healthiest Meal of he Day

 
 I wanted to share something about Shakeology with you. If you have not heard of Shakeology it is a new shake that Beachbody has come up with that supplies your body with 70 superfoods. You need this in your system and I need this in my system. I have been drinking it for a couple monthes now. I can feel the difference in my body each day. What do I have to lose???

Every since I can remember I have had a lower back problem. Every once in a while when I would over do it with something at work or just laying around the house or maybe even just playing with the family, my back would have a pain in it that I could barely even get around. A couple times I would have to lean against the wall to even make it to the bed. So one day I was watching T.V and an infomercial came on and it was for P90X from Beachbody. I saw people my age doing these exercises and getting them done with no problem. I asked myself why can I not do this and I wonder if it will help my back problem.  I went to work and started talking about it and low and behold someone had this workout. So I asked if I could use it for a while to see if it would help my back. Little did I know it was going to help my whole body

       I started doing the workouts one night after work and it was great I felt so sore the next day. I could barely move my arms to open a door. But I was good with it as I knew I was changing things a little bit. So then after work I got another DVD and pushed play again and low and behold the pain went away from the previous day’s workout. I started to like these workouts I liked the way they made me feel. I like that they were changing me inside and out I could barely stop talking about these workouts. I would go to work and tell them about the stuff I did the night before with the workouts. Everyone was seeing a change in me, it was Awesome to see the change. Not only did I change the way I felt about myself I changed the way I was eating. I changed from eating fried foods and chips and beer to eating healthy fruits and veggies and meats. It was just such a shock to me the way I jumped right in with both feet for this program.


    In the end of the 90 days I changed so much that I wanted more of it. I had people tell me you cannot do that you cannot do this, but you know what I did it and I loved it. I was really proud of myself for completing something that people said I could not finish. Everyone thought I would just do it for a while and stop just like always. But I pushed it and went for it what did I have to lose some weight. Now what did I have to gain muscle, health, endurance, strength in my lower back. And that is exactly what happened I gain all that and I lost weight during the 90 days. Since I have completed P90X and now Insanity my lower back is stronger than ever and no more pain. I can feel the muscles around the lower back. It is an awesome feeling to know you can go play with your grand kids and not have to worry about hurting the next day or week for that matter. They deserved me to try this for them and me.
